A dream called Australia

On right, almost difficult to see in the reflection of the sun on the water, there is the famous Opera House with its particular roof. On left, the wonderful and noble Harbour Bridge… On the water there are a lot of old style boats… The Opera House attracts your attention… It’s so familiar, so “ehi-I-am-in-Sydney”, that you have to stop looking it”.
(my translation from “In a Sunburned Country” by Bill Bryson)
I have never read a description so perfect and real in a book like this. You really understand to be in Australia only at the moment you look the harbor of Sidney when you stop at Circular Quay with the city rail.
For me it was exactly so.
It was my first “Australian” day. On the 17th Juni 2008. Sydney. I got on the city rail in Newtown (very curious and particular district) and arrived to the Harbour. I say to you that I’m really didn’t understand where I was (maybe because I travelled for 23 hours the day before and I had to get into the habit of the new time zone...) . I got off the train and I wasn’t able to speak: it was wonderful. I really understood to be in Sidney. It’s completely different to see pictures and imagine and to be there.
To imagine and to live Australia are two things much different. People say that it’s impossible to don’t love Australia and its beautiful landscapes: I confirm!
I thing every day about 2 months and half I was there. They are probably the best months in my life.
Australia and australian landscapes, cities, people go into your heart. Australians have a wonderful way of life: they aren’t stressed and live without problems: “don’t worry” they say.

la terra dei canguro ha un fascino penetrante...
La descrizione e' perfetta e quasi quasi si respira il 'profumo' di quel paese , specialmente per chi come me non ha avuto ancora il piacere di visitare , complimenti !
